I have a lot on my mind today and felt like sharing what’s going on - all good things for the most part.
Today is rainy day cleanup time - 7 lenses, 3 cameras, star tracker, about 10 solar filters. Format all cards, charge all the batteries, restock the first aid kit, clean the sand out of the tripods, clean sand out of gear bags, then pack everything. I got a few trips planned over the next couple of months so it’s time to put this all back together.
Over the past month or so I have cleaned my photo archive from over 200,000 photos, to around 30,000. I have organized some nice albums, started a photobook, built a new 2nd website from scratch, and started some other new projects. It has been a lot and I’m ready to just focus on photography now. Milky Way season is here, the mushrooms are coming back, the water is going to warm, and colors are starting to come back if it will ever stop raining.
The looming solar eclipse mission/family vacation to New York takes a lot of preparation and planning because as I learned from 2017, it is easy for everything to fall apart at the last second. I still got the shot last time, maybe I will get lucky again, maybe not. See photo below of 2017 eclipse from Wyoming. Either way it should be a fun family trip to Niagara Falls, and Finger Lakes. Also, I am heading to the Outer Banks next weekend for a casual solo trip just to relax and hopefully photograph the 12p Pons Brooks comet that will be visible for the next month or 2. In between all of that hopefully I can get to the Shore a couple of times to work on that project, but I may put that off until summer. We are also renovating our house in April, and the stupid surgery I need to get that I’ve been putting off is finally happening after vacation. Maybe I’ll get some work done at my actual job too, but I see a lot of PTO in my future. Then summer can start - and we gotta make the most of it because my kid starts kindergarten in just a few short months!
I put a lot of time and dedication into my hobby and I have been having nightmares about missing the shot, or it being cloudy, or someone stealing my gear while traveling, or memory card corruption, or the thousand other things that can go wrong. I guess I just overthink it too much.🙄
I have a lot of plans for more my website as social media is becoming increasingly more frustrating
